Every year around this time, I hear the same thing:

“I’ll get back on track after the holidays.”

And every time I hear it, I think…

Why wait?

I’m not saying you need to start a strict diet, a demanding workout program, or make your holidays all about what you can’t have.

I’m saying start taking care of yourself now.

Because the habits you build before life gets busy can help carry you through the busy season.

And here’s something else I want you to think about:

How Do You Want to Feel This Holiday Season?

We spend so much time thinking about what we need to do for the holidays.

Shopping. Cooking. Traveling. Decorating. Attending events.

But what if you also asked yourself:

How do I want to FEEL?

I want to have energy.
I want to feel strong.
I want to enjoy the people I love.
I want moments of peace and quiet.
I want to laugh.
I want to be present enough to actually enjoy—and remember—the good stuff.

That’s wellness to me.

Wellness isn’t just about exercise or what you eat.

It’s your body, mind, relationships, confidence, peace, and your ability to stay engaged in your own life.

So don’t wait for January.

Start with something small today.

Move to Improve

Take a walk.

Not because you need to “burn off” anything.

Move because your body was designed to move—and staying active helps you stay strong and independent.

Call someone you miss.

Connection matters. Your relationships are part of your wellness, too.

Protect part of your evening.

Put the phone down for 30 minutes. Stretch. Read. Pray. Listen to music. Take a breath. Simply be.

Do something that gives you purpose.

Help someone. Learn something. Make plans with a friend. Try something you’ve always wanted to try.

Keep participating in your own life.

That’s something I believe more strongly with every birthday.

At 74, I don’t just want to add years to my life.

I want to add life to my years.

Strong.
Independent.
Connected.
Curious.
Grateful.
Still growing.
Still moving forward. 💃🏽

Look How Far You’ve Come

Before the holidays arrive, I want you to do something we don’t do often enough:

Give yourself some credit.

Think about where you were at the beginning of this year.

Maybe you’ve gotten stronger.

Maybe you’ve learned to protect your peace.

Maybe you’ve gotten better at saying no.

Maybe you’re taking better care of your body.

Or maybe you simply made it through something difficult…

and you’re still standing.

That counts, too. ❤️

You don’t have to completely reinvent yourself before the holidays.

Just choose one small thing you can do today that will make tomorrow’s you feel a little better.

Then do it again tomorrow.

That’s how some of the biggest changes in my life happened.

Not all at once.

One choice at a time.

So please, don’t wait for January to start caring for yourself.

Start today. Move to improve.

Your body, your mind, and your future self will thank you.
